Different,
Not Less
Every day, our residents show the world that worth is not determined by ability.
We are a family-run microsanctuary providing adaptive care, lifelong sanctuary, and second chances for farmed animals who are overlooked, vulnerable, or in need of individualized care.
Because Different Is Beautiful.
SOME LIVES NEED A DIFFERENT KIND OF SANCTUARY
Rescue is only the beginning.
Many of the animals who arrive at Butterfly Valley need more than food, shelter, and a safe place to live. They may require specialized feeding, medication, rehabilitation, mobility support, environmental adaptations, or simply a caregiver willing to understand how they experience the world.
Here, care is never one-size-fits-all. We meet each resident where they are and help them experience safety, comfort, connection, and life on their own terms.
ADAPTIVE CARE
Individualized support designed around each resident’s needs.
LIFELONG SANCTUARY
A permanent home where residents are known, loved, and protected.
SECOND CHANCES
Opportunity for animals who may otherwise be overlooked or considered too complicated.
MEANINGFUL LIVES
Because quality of life is not determined by ability, appearance, or diagnosis.

MEET THE HEART OF BUTTERFLY VALLEY
Every resident has a name, a personality, a history, and a life that matters.
Some arrived needing immediate medical or adaptive support. Others needed protection, patience, or simply a safe place to belong. Their stories are different—but each one is part of the family.

WHY DIFFERENT IS BEAUTIFUL
“Different Is Beautiful” is more than our motto. It is what our residents have taught us.
They remind us that worth is not determined by ability. That needing support does not make a life burdensome. That moving, communicating, eating, learning, or experiencing the world differently does not make anyone less deserving of care, opportunity, compassion, or belonging.
At Butterfly Valley, we do not simply say different is beautiful.
We see it every day.
SANCTUARY IS A VERB
Sanctuary is not simply a place. It is what happens here every day.
It is preparing specialized meals, giving medication, changing bedding, arranging veterinary care, adapting living spaces, supporting mobility, encouraging friendships, and learning what helps each resident thrive.
It is the ongoing promise that they will continue to be seen, understood, and cared for.

INDIVIDUALIZED CARE
Every care plan begins with the resident—not a standard formula. Support changes as their health, mobility, comfort, and independence change.

SAFE & ADAPTED SPACES
Shelters, flooring, feeding areas, and routines are adjusted to help residents move safely and participate in daily life.

RELATIONSHIPS & ENRICHMENT
Care includes more than medical needs. Companionship, choice, curiosity, comfort, and joy are essential parts of a meaningful life.

A LIFELONG COMMITMENT
Residents are not projects to be completed. Butterfly Valley remains their home through changing needs, new challenges, ordinary days, and every stage of life.
